Workshop on Future Scientometrics

Prelude to the Workshop

Title: Workshop on the Future of Scientometrics

In the dynamic landscape of Scientometrics, new evaluation indicators are emerging as key resources to overcome traditional models’ limitations and improve systems’ reliability. Once, Scientometrics was confined to publications and citation counts. However, the developments in assessment systems have made it a new paradigm with many facets, and the boundary has been extended. New research in this domain is being carried out on a large scale that leverages an enhanced scope. We intend to address these developments using the topics described below.

Topics:

(1) New opportunities and problems of scientometrics in an open science environment

(2) Evolution and breakthrough of scientometrics in the era of big data

(3) Innovation of scientometrics in interdisciplinary research

(4) Data processing and analysis of scientometrics in the era of big data

(5) The development trend of scientometrics from the perspective of international comparison

(6) The promotion and transformation of metrology by emerging technologies

(7) Development and application of scientometrics tools and databases

(8) Contribution measurement from an ethical and policy perspective

(9) Contribution measurement and evaluation of knowledge dissemination effect

(10) Exploration of the application of cutting-edge scientometrics technology in academic evaluation system

(11) Use scientometrics to identify potential research hotspots and emerging fields

(12) Subject development trend prediction and strategic planning based on scientometrics

Date: October 18, 2024

Format: Physical workshop & Online

Size: Up to 30 people

Purpose of the workshop:

This workshop aims to explore innovative research in the rapidly evolving field of text-based indicators, focusing on its integration and application within the broader scope of assessment systems. Based on the theme “Future of Scientometrics,” by uniting researchers and institutions, the unique insights and innovations developed by scientometrics will be transformed from laboratory prototypes into reliable real-world solutions for institutions, breaking new ground in scientometrics.

We warmly welcome submissions from all, regardless of their level of expertise, that demonstrate novel approaches, theoretical insights, and practical applications of text metrics and their role in advancing the field of research assessment systems.

Please submit papers by email or online system designated by the workshop.

paper submission process

  • The author prepares the manuscript according to the request notice.
  • Write according to the specified format and page limits.
  • Register and Submit the manuscript by the deadline through the online system designated by the workshop or by email
  • The workshop organizer will assign the submissions received to members of the Technical Program Committee (who will remain anonymous) for review.
  • Reviewers score and provide feedback based on quality, relevance and innovation criteria.
  • According to the review results, the organizer decides which manuscripts to recommend for submission to which journals.
  • A notification is sent to the author, who submits the article to the corresponding journal system.
  • The author modified and improved the manuscript according to the journal’s review comments.
  • Article accepted.

Note: All supporting journals subject submissions to the double-blind peer-review process. The decision on publication will depend on this process. Accordingly, a guarantee for publication will not be issued before making the submission and completing the review process. However, the article recommended by the conference greatly increases the chance of acceptance.
